The Spirit of Heaviness

This past service, Apostle Cannon ministered a powerful and timely word on the spirit of heaviness. He reminded our church family that heaviness is more than just sadness or discouragement—it is a spiritual weight that the enemy uses to oppress God’s people and keep them from walking in joy, freedom, and purpose.

Apostle Cannon taught us from Isaiah 61:3, where the Word declares that God gives us “the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” He explained that heaviness can show up through depression, anxiety, weariness, or even a loss of spiritual desire, but God has already given us the weapon of praise and worship to break its hold.

As a family, we were encouraged to cast our cares on the Lord, to recognize when heaviness tries to settle in, and to fight back by lifting up praise, surrounding ourselves with the Word, and staying connected in fellowship. Apostle Cannon reminded us that we don’t have to carry that weight alone—Jesus bore it all on the cross, and through Him, we have freedom, peace, and deliverance.

The message was not only informative but also transformational, leaving our church family strengthened, encouraged, and ready to walk in victory over heaviness.
